Life is Beautiful may be months away, but the festival’s organizers are already busy creating musical experiences in Downtown Las Vegas. It all kicks off on February 6th at Artifice with the first of a series of Downtown Music Showcases.
Launching its search for the best musicians in the Valley, Life is Beautiful presents a series of free concerts designed to showcase homegrown talent and to offer them the opportunity of a lifetime. Local and regional bands, DJs, and solo musicians will be on display in varying Downtown Las Vegas venues, playing for a spot on stage during the highly anticipated festival this fall.
“A large part of the Life is Beautiful festival will be centered on music and marquee bands of course,” said Craig Nyman, Head of Music for festival curators Aurelian Marketing Group, “but the opportunity to find and showcase local talent is of great importance to us. At the end of the day, our festival is taking place in the heart of Las Vegas, and it is our goal to inspire the entire community by staging top-notch entertainment, no matter where it’s from.”
Nyman goes on to explain, “Our goal is to further the Vegas music scene and to show how much talent we do have in our city.” When asked about the possible number of local bands to play the full-scale festival, Nyman says, “There really isn’t a set number. We’re looking to see what talent there is and how it may play into the lineup that we’re curating for the festival.”
At the first of these monthly showcases will be six local bands spanning genres from classic rock to pop and folk. Featured artists include:
· Rusty Maples
· American Cream
· Same Sex Mary
· Coastwest Unrest
· Play for Keeps
· The Perks
Stay tuned for more information regarding upcoming showcases. Musicians interested in applying to perform at an upcoming Life is Beautiful showcase can complete a form at lifeisbeautifulfestival.com. If selected, all bands will be notified by event organizers at least 30 days in advance.
Life is Beautiful is a new two-day music, food and arts festival that plans to attract thousands of Downtown Las Vegas in the fall of 2013. Festival organizer Rehan Choudhry says Life is Beautiful will attract “tens of thousands of people” to what will be “the largest rock festival, the largest food and wine festival in the history of Las Vegas.” The festival will include dozens of well-known musical acts along with celebrity chefs offering classes, tastings, and pop-up dinners in Downtown restaurants. Life is Beautiful will feature a full-scale beer, wine, and mixology program including classes for the public led by renowned winemakers, brewers, and mixologists. There will also be a fully functioning kids area where children will be able to enjoy kids’ music, food, art, and fashion. There will also be a comprehensive art program as part of Life as Beautiful.
Choudhry sees the festival as an opportunity for Downtown to introduce itself to locals who may not otherwise visit the neighborhood, as well as a chance for visitors to learn more about the area. He says, “They’ll be able to see Downtown in the best way possible. What better way to see Downtown for the first time?”
